Crestone Mountain Zen Center is a Zen Buddhist monastic practice and retreat center in Colorado. It offers residential training in Zen meditation and practice under the guidance of Abbot and Head Teacher Zentatsu Baker-roshi, Dharma Heir of Shunryu Suzuki-roshi.

Zen practitioners are welcome to apply for the annual 90-day winter Practice Period, for Sesshins, Seminars, the annual Autumn Study Month and Work Practice, or join the residential practice as students.

Individual retreatants and guests who want to enjoy the beauty, quiet, and isolation of the Crestone mountains can rent cabins from October through May and in between the Summer Guest Season groups (June through September).

During the summer Guest Season the retreat facilities are available for group leaders to host retreats, seminars, workshops and conferences, including meditation from different wisdom traditions, yoga, music, dance, bodywork, medicine and psychotherapy.

Crestone Mountain Zen Center is located on the western slope of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains overlooking the San Luis Valley – one of the most remote and dramatically beautiful areas in North America. Nestled against the rugged 14,000 foot peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and surrounded by 240 acres Piñon Pine and Juniper forest, the beauty and seclusion of our Center provide an unique environment for contemplation and inquiry.
